Kaneka Aerospace has a new Clear Composite Resin !

Please view our paper on the SAMPE Nexus platform between June 29 & July 1.

Compared to acrylics and polycarbonates, transparent composites made from Kaneka’s resin and AGY’s S-2 Glass® fiber features…

Comparable transmittance of light AND Order of magnitude higher mechanical properties!

The above panel consists of Kaneka’s transparent resin reinforced with S-2 Glass® fiber. Relative to a baseline epoxy resin with the same fiber, comparable tensile but superior flexural properties are found, exhibiting values that are an over an order of magnitude higher than acrylic and polycarbonate plastics.  The light transmittance characteristics of the clear composite are compared to acrylic and polycarbonate and show similar transmittance throughout the entire visible spectrum.
